Assembly and Kitting Staffing Services

Manual assembly, sequencing, kitting, and sub-assembly crews. This is precision repetition, where a small loss of accuracy at one station shows up several stations later.

Assembly And Kitting Staffing Designed For Your Workforce Needs

Assembly and kitting looks like the easiest light industrial work to staff and is one of the hardest to staff well. The individual task is usually simple. Place a component, verify a count, build a kit to a pick list, install a fastener. Anyone can do it for an hour.

The difficulty is the eighth hour. Repetitive precision work degrades quietly, and a worker whose accuracy slips at hour six does not look like a problem on the production floor. The problem appears downstream, in a sub-assembly that does not fit, a kit that is short one item, or a quality hold on a batch built earlier in the week. We screen for sustained accuracy, not only for whether someone can perform the task.

What Assembly and Kitting Work Actually Covers

Two words covering a wider range of work than most job descriptions suggest, and the roles are different from each other.

Manual assembly. Hand building a product, from simple component placement to multi-step builds that require a work instruction.

Sub-assembly. The same work one level back, producing components that feed a main line, which adds a timing dependency the assembler may never see.

Sequencing. Assembly ordered to a downstream schedule. It rewards discipline over speed, because working ahead is as disruptive as working behind.

Kitting. Building sets to a specification. Retail kits, promotional packs, service kits, e-commerce bundles, industrial kits built to a bill of materials. Often high-volume and frequently seasonal, and it happens in warehouses as often as in plants, which is why it sits between our warehouse work and our manufacturing work.

Rework and inspection. When a batch needs sorting, relabeling, or repacking, that is usually an assembly crew, and it is usually urgent.

Screening For Consistency Across A Full Shift

Dexterity and attention to detail are the standard screening criteria for assembly work. We screen for those, then for whether the accuracy holds across a full shift, which is a separate trait.

A fast, careful worker in the first two hours is not necessarily a reliable one at hour eight. So our questions go at tenure rather than ability:

  • How long did you do that job?
  • What was the daily count?
  • Did you rotate stations or stay on one?
  • What happened when you made an error, and how did you catch it?

We also screen for tolerance of the work, which people are usually honest about when asked directly. Some find repetitive precision work steadying and stay in it for years. Others need variety and will leave within a month regardless of how capable they are. Placing the second kind into a kitting operation is a failure that was predictable at the interview.

What You Can Expect From Luxor Staffing

The task in assembly and kitting looks simple enough that the screening gets treated as a formality, and that is where assembly crews start to churn. We treat it as a screening problem rather than a supply problem.

Screened For The Eighth Hour

We screen for sustained accuracy as well as initial ability, because repetitive precision work fails at hour eight more often than at hour one.

Sequenced And Sub-Assembly Experience

Work that feeds a downstream production line has a timing discipline of its own. We ask whether a candidate has done it before.

Built For Project And Short-Run Work

Kitting is often a project rather than an ongoing need. We staff short runs, seasonal builds, and rework batches with the same intake we use for continuing accounts.

Volume For Large Builds

Luxor specializes in staffing shifts of 300 or more employees. Promotional kitting and bundle builds arrive as large, fast crews, and that is the shape our process was designed around.
